951.696.9669Sunnova Energy International Inc. filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 9, 2025 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Among the key facts at the time of filing:
Through Sunnova's court-supervised Chapter 11 sale process, SunStrong Management assumed responsibility for billing, monitoring, and customer service for in-service customer systems. Sunnova has ceased independent operations.
For most lease and PPA customers, this means your contract continues with SunStrong as the servicer. You should keep making payments as usual. But many customers report that getting physical repairs, warranty claims processed, and monitoring issues resolved through SunStrong's network has been slow and inconsistent.
That's where ElectriCare can help — we handle the actual hands-on work locally, file warranty claims directly with manufacturers, and don't make you wait weeks for a subcontractor to show up.
Sunnova was primarily a financing/dealer-model company — the equipment was made by major manufacturers whose warranties remain valid.
If you have a Sunnova lease or PPA, your contract has transferred to SunStrong Management. Keep paying as usual. SunStrong should be sending you billing and monitoring access. For physical service and repairs, ElectriCare can help — we're independent of SunStrong and can service the equipment regardless of who holds the contract.
If you financed through GoodLeap, Mosaic, or Sunlight Financial, the FTC Holder Rule may give you legal protections if the system isn't functioning. Talk to a consumer attorney before stopping payments — but document everything.
Six concrete things we do for customers stuck in the Sunnova-to-SunStrong transition.
← Back to all orphan solar helpWe inspect the system, identify your equipment, and document its current condition — quoted upfront before any work begins.
We pull serial numbers, verify what's covered with each manufacturer, and file claims directly — bypassing the SunStrong queue entirely.
Lost access to your monitoring during the transition? We reconnect you to native manufacturer apps (Enphase Enlighten, SolarEdge mySolarEdge).
Failed inverter, microinverter, or battery? We diagnose, source warranty replacements, and install with our in-house electricians — no waiting on dealer-network subcontractors.
If your Sunnova install was abandoned mid-project, we can quote completion as a separate scope of work to get your system online.
Same family, same California license (CSLB #778366), since 2000. We're not going anywhere — your service continuity is guaranteed.
Tell us about your system, your contract type (lease/PPA/loan), and what you're experiencing. Same-business-day response.
Continue paying as usual. SunStrong Management has taken over servicing of in-service Sunnova accounts including billing, monitoring, and customer service. You should have received notification from SunStrong with their contact information. Keep records of every payment. For physical service and repairs on your equipment, ElectriCare can still help — we're independent of SunStrong and can service the system regardless of who holds your contract.
In-progress Sunnova installations are being handled through GoodLeap. Contact GoodLeap at (888) 975-5436 for guidance on completing your installation. If GoodLeap can't help or the timeline is unacceptable, ElectriCare can quote completion of the install as a separate project — you'd need to coordinate the financial side with your lender separately.
Under the SunStrong transition, monitoring is supposed to continue, but customer reports indicate response times have been slow and service quality inconsistent. ElectriCare can inspect your system, file warranty claims directly with the equipment manufacturers (Enphase, SolarEdge, REC, etc.), and complete repairs — typically faster than waiting on SunStrong's subcontractors.
Yes. Equipment warranties are between you and the manufacturer, not Sunnova. Panels (typically 25 years from REC, Q CELLS, Trina, etc.), microinverters (25 years from Enphase), and batteries (10 years from Tesla, Enphase, Franklin) are all unaffected by Sunnova's bankruptcy. We help identify what's covered and file claims on your behalf.
Generally yes — your contract is a legal obligation that survives the bankruptcy. Stopping payments could damage your credit and put you in default. If the system isn't functioning, document everything (production data, communication attempts, repair requests) and consult with a consumer protection attorney before stopping payments. The FTC Holder Rule may give you legal protections if you financed through GoodLeap, Mosaic, or Sunlight Financial.
Manufacturer warranties have expiration dates. Filing claims while equipment is covered can save thousands. Also, small issues like degraded microinverters, loose connections, and monitoring drops are far cheaper to address before they cause major production loss. A system inspection while warranties are still valid protects your investment.
